Beantown players listed in Women’s Rugby players of the decade by RUGBYMag.com

BOSTON, MA: As the decade comes to a close, RUGBYMag.com has named their Women’s Rugby players of the decade. The twenty-two-player list is made up of both past, and present Eagle women. The list boasts four players from New England’s only Premier League rugby club, Beantown RFC.Alumna, Jen Crouse was a long time captain for Beantown and a member of the Women Eagles from 2000 to 2007. Alex Williams, another Beantown Alumna is currently the Women Eagles High Performance Manager.

The two current players, Jamie Burke (Dover, NH), named “one of the most physically imposing front row players in USA history” and number two, Mari Wallace(Jamiaca Plain) are both currently in Tampa, Florida at a pre-World Cup training camp. Along with Burke and Wallace, other Beantown players Sharon Blaney(Watertown), Emilie Bydwell(Watertown), Mel Denham(Watertown) and Kittery Wagner(Watertown) will be suiting up for two test matches against Canada this coming week. “We’re incredibly proud that our Beantown teammates are representing the USA against one of their fiercest rivals. No doubt the loudest cheers during the game will be from Boston,” says Beantown President Monica VanBuskirk.

Tuesday’s 3pm match against Canada will be available to view at www.ustream.tv/channel/usa-rugby.

    Thanks for your comment, Pit! We are currently running this blog using Wordpress 2.9 since it’s quite easy to maintain and publish all our announcements. There’s plenty of documentation through the Wordpress website to help you customize your own blog.
